Area of Discipline / Professional Expertise:

  • Human Biomechanics (for more detailed information about the biomechanics program go to biomech.byu.edu)

Research:

  • I study various aspects of the biomechanics of able-bodied and pathological human gait. I have recently conducted several studies designed to understand the mechanical and physiological implications of ambulation using a novel crutch design. I am currently studying the specific neuromechanical effects of pain on walking, running, and jumping. I hope that my research will lead to a better understanding of able-bodied gait and more effective resolutions of certain gait impairments.

Education:

  • PhD, Exercise Science (Biomechanics), University of Kentucky, 2006
  • MA, Exercise Science (Biomechanics), Utah State University, 2002
  • BS, Physical Education, Utah State University, 2000

Affiliations:

  • American Society of Biomechanics
